To provide a method of reading an RFID tag for starting only a specific RFID tag to read the ID thereof when calling the RFID tag by transmitting a start pattern from a reader by using a signal of a low frequency band such as an LF band.
A reader 100 outputs a call signal including a specific start pattern in an LF band. When detecting a start pattern corresponding to the set start pattern, an active type RFID tag 200 which stands by for the call signal in the LF band starts the whole RFID tags 200, and transmits the ID to the reader 100 in a frequency band which is higher than the LF band so that the ID can be read by the reader 100. Different start patterns are set in the RFID tags 200. The reader 100 dynamically sets the start pattern set in the RFID tag B(200b) to be called as a start pattern in outputting the call signal.
