To provide an operating apparatus for a wheelchair foot plate which enables the installation work of an operating means for interlock-connecting an operation lever and a foot plate, and the adjusting work to easily be performed, and keeps the application handling simplified.

The operating means 40 which interlock-connects the operation lever 21 being installed on the side section of a main body frame 2 and the foot plate 9 is constituted of an elastic tube 41 having elasticity, a wire 42, a fixing device 43, and a wire connecting device 55. In this case, the elastic tube 41 is connected with the operation lever 21, and stretches when a large tensile force being a tensile force by a normal activating operation or higher is applied. The wire 42 is freely slidably inserted in the elastic tube 41 and enables the pulling-out length to be adjusted. The fixing device 43 connect-fixes the wire 42 to the elastic tube 41. The wire connecting device is connected with the end section of the wire 42 and detachably fitted on the rear side section of the foot plate 9. The fixing device 43 is equipped with a supporting body 44 and a fixation lever 45. In this case, the supporting body 44 is attach-fixed in a manner to go along the external surface of the elastic tube 41. The fixation lever 45 is turnably attached to the supporting body 44.
