Abstract:

To provide a method of joining different metal in which an oxide film in a joining boundary can be easily removed while formation of an inter-metallic compound in a joining process is suppressed when different types of metal are joined by resistance welding, and strong joining between new faces is made possible, while corrosion due to contact between different metals is prevented as necessary, and a joint of different materials which attains compatiblility between strength and corrosion resistance can be obtained at low cost, and also to provide a different metal-joined structure obtained by this method.

Resistance spot or seam welding is performed by superposing different metallic materials, for example, a galvanized steel material 1 and an aluminum alloy material 2 and by causing eutectic fusion between zinc and aluminum inside the plating layer 1a of the galvanized steel material 1. Then, a gap G is provided between the two different metallic materials 1, 2 and then, the weld zone is pressurized, with a seal material S interposed as necessary, and with electricity made to flow to join the two different metallic materials 1, 2.
