Abstract:

To provide a porous metal body having porosity distribution in a plane direction.

The manufacturing method includes: a molding step of molding a foaming slurry into a thin sheet shape; a foaming and drying step of foaming and drying the foaming slurry which has been molded into the thin sheet shape to form a greensheet; a sintering step of sintering the greensheet to form a sintered body; and a compressing step of compressing the sintered body in the thickness direction until the sintered body acquires a predetermined thickness. The manufacturing method also includes: forming a salient part and a recess part in the foaming slurry on a carrier sheet thereby to form a salient part and a recess part on the greensheet, in the molding step; sintering this greensheet thereby to form a salient part 10a and a recess part 10b on the sintered body, and compressing the sintered body so that at least the salient part 10a in the sintered body becomes thin in the compressing step to form a metal porous body 13 having porosities of the voids formed between skeletons different in the plane direction.
