Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery that has small internal resistance by specifying a state of a gap present in a secondary particle of the positive electrode active material, and a method for evaluating properties of the positive electrode active material.SOLUTION: The lithium ion secondary battery is characterized in using the positive electrode active material, in which primary particles gather to form a secondary particle, such that the rate of the gap part to the total of area of the gap part exposed in a section of the secondary particle and primary particle parts is 25% or more and less than 100%, and box dimensions of the gap part by a box counting method are 1.7 or more and less than 2.0.
