To provide a display control device enabling viewers to view video images in a mode appropriate to each of the viewers.
In the display control device 2, a display/non-display video determination unit 70 determines a video image displayed on a display device 400 as a display video image or a non-display video image on the basis of video image information pertaining to the video images displayed on the display device 400 and viewing mode information indicating the desired video image viewing mode of a viewer. Additionally, a shutter movement control unit 80 closes the right-eye shutter and the left-eye shutter of liquid crystal shutters 500 when a video image determined as a non-display video image, which is unnecessary in the viewing mode and is not displayed to the viewer, is displayed on the display device 400. Accordingly, the display control device 2 enables video image viewing in the mode appropriate for each viewer, since the right-eye shutter and the left-eye shutter of the liquid crystal shutters 500 are closed when a non-display video image is displayed on the display device 400.
