Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber coupler which equalizes propagation constants of two photonic bandgap fibers and has high coupling efficiency.SOLUTION: In an optical fiber coupler 1, two photonic band gap fibers different by core diameter are joined, and grating spaces of clads constituting a first photonic band gap fiber 11 and a second photonic band gap fiber 21 respectively are different from each other to equalize respective propagation constants of the first photonic band gap fiber 11 and the second photonic bandgap fiber 21.
