Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sulfur-conductive polymer composite as a cathode active material of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, which is capable of showing sufficient energy density inherent in sulfur when sulfur is used as the cathode active material.SOLUTION: A composite cathode active material essentially consisting of fibrous sulfur and a conductive polymer is produced by: adsorbing a monomer as a source of the conductive polymer to the fibrous sulfur formed by a melting electrospinning method; and then performing the polymerization; thereby forming a thin conductive polymer coating mainly on a surface of the fibrous sulfur. A polypyrrole is preferable as the conductive polymer.
