Abstract:
Disclosed is a production method that can be continuously executed in a series of steps and that is for a vinyl ether star polymer wherein an arm comprising a vinyl ether polymer and an arm comprising an oxystyrene polymer are co-polymerized in sequence from a nucleus. Said production method is characterized by a Lewis acid being added to a reaction solution containing at least a starting seed, a solvent, and a divinyl compound, synthesizing a vinyl ether polymer having vinyl groups on side chains, generating a nucleus by intermolecular cross-linking of said vinyl group side chains, and thereafter adding a vinyl ether monomer and an oxystyrene monomer, causing living cation polymerization of the vinyl ether polymer and the oxystyrene polymer in sequence, forming diblock arms.
