Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine whether or not a misfire occurs in an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An ECU executes a program including: a step (S102) of calculating a rotational fluctuation quantity ΔNe; a step (S108) of incrementing a rough road counter when the rotational fluctuation quantity ΔNe is a rough road determination value A(1) or larger (YES in S106); a step of incrementing a misfire counter when the rotational fluctuation quantity ΔNe is a provisional misfire determination value A(0) or larger (YES in S104) and smaller than the rough road determination value A(1) (NO in S106), and a variation pattern of rotational fluctuation matches a variation pattern at the occurrence of the misfire (S110); a step (S116) of executing notification control when the notification of the misfire occurrence is determined to be necessary based on the value of the misfire counter and the value of the rough road counter (YES in S114); and a step (S120) of clearing the values of the misfire counter and the rough road counter when revolutions reach a predetermined number of revolutions since start conditions are satisfied (YES in S118).
