Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a short circuit between a positive electrode and a negative electrode caused by fusion of a separator in overcharge of a battery and to prevent a sharp rise in a battery temperature due to rapid Joule heat generation caused by the short circuit.SOLUTION: A lithium ion battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator for maintaining electric insulation of the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and an electrolyte in a battery container. A semiconductive layer is provided between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. A semiconductor layer includes an insulator and includes a semiconductor or a conductor. An electric resistivity of the semiconductive layer is 10Ωm to 10Ωm, for example.
