Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem of a conventional air cell that an electrolyte expands due to heating or production of an oxide, and especially when the thickness is reduced, internal resistance increases or the cross-sectional area of an air passage decreases thus causing reduction of output.SOLUTION: The air cell comprises: a positive electrode layer 1; and a negative electrode layer 2, with an electrolyte layer 3 interposed therebetween. At least one of the positive electrode layer 1 and negative electrode layer 2 includes a passage formation member 5 which forms an air passage F for the positive electrode layer 1, by interposing between an adjoining air cell A1 when laminating a plurality of air cells A1. The passage formation member 5 has conductivity and an elastic deformation function corresponding to expansion of the electrolyte layer 3. Increase in the internal resistance incident to expansion of the electrolyte is canceled by reduction of contact resistance, and reduction of output is prevented by maintaining a predetermined cross-sectional area of the air passage.
