Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst production process and catalyst for enhancing the contact property of catalyst metal with exhaust gas and for improving the catalytic performance of catalyst material by having the catalyst metal supported as much as possible not only within the pores of the support material but also over the whole surface.SOLUTION: Provided is a catalyst material production process in which first a solution containing a salt of a catalyst metal 5 and a dispersion liquid in which a carbon particle 4 having a porosity of 50% or more is dispersed are mixed to prepare a mixture, then it is supported on an inorganic oxide particle 3, followed by calcination in an Ar atmosphere. Said catalyst material production process in which the average primary particle size of the carbon particle is 30 to 50 nm, and the ratio of the mass of the catalyst metal to the mass of the carbon particle is 1/10≤[catalyst metal/carbon particle]≤1/2. Provided is a catalyst material produced by said process in which the catalyst metal is Pt, the crystal diameter of Pt after the calcination at 600°C for 2 hours in a non-oxidizing atmosphere is 30 to 50 nm; when the catalyst metal is Pd, it is 40 to 50 nm; and in the case of Rh, it is 5 to 20 nm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
