Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an output signal in a probability according to a specified value.SOLUTION: A signal generator comprises a resistance change element, a voltage setting part, a pulse generation part, a reading part, and an output part. When an applied voltage is increased or decreased, the resistance change element changes in a prescribed transition voltage from a first resistive state to a second resistive state. The voltage setting part sets an applied voltage value applied to the resistance change element. The pulse generation part applies, to the resistance change element, a voltage pulse having a total pulse width equal to a time width according to a specified value and an amplitude equal to the applied voltage value. The reading part reads the state of the resistance change element after the voltage pulse is applied. The output part outputs an output signal with a value according to the state of the resistance change element which is read. The voltage setting part sets an applied voltage value so that a cumulative probability distribution of change from the first resistive state to the second resistive state when a voltage is applied to the resistance change element while changing the time width is an exponential distribution.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
