Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of switching between wide viewing angle and narrow viewing angle with a simple configuration and simple controlling.SOLUTION: The display device comprises a display element 10, and an optical switching element arranged facing an image display face of the display element 10. The optical switching element includes a light guide plate 14, and a light source 16 emitting light to an end face of the light guide plate 14. The light guide plate 14 includes: a transparent substrate 1 on at least one principal surface of which a patterned electrode layer is laminated; and a light deflection layer which is laminated integrally with the transparent substrate 1, and has a rugged shape for emitting, when the light source 16 is turned on, 80% or more of light emitted from a principal surface of the light guide plate 14 opposite the display element 10 in a range of an angle of 30° or more with respect to a normal line of the light guide plate 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
