PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel fragrance compound that can reproduce an aroma full of natural feeling and fresh feeling as well as that has versatility.SOLUTION: Provided are: methyl-4-dodecenoic acid represented by the following formula (1) [in which, the bond of wavy line indicates a mixture of an (E) form or (Z) form or an (E) form and a (Z) form at an arbitrary ratio] and a process for producing the same; and a fragrance composition containing said 3-methyl-4-dodecenoic acid as an active ingredient. Furthermore, provided is a consumable product containing the 3-methyl-4-dodecenoic acid or a fragrance composition containing the same as an active ingredient.SELECTED DRAWING: None
