Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-mode optical fiber which has a large effective bandwidth (EB) over a wide range of wavelength, and facilitates concentration control of Ge doped in a core.SOLUTION: A multi-mode optical fiber has a glass section consisting of a core and cladding extending along a fiber axis. The core contains Ge and concentration of Ge in a radial direction follows an α-th power distribution. The cladding surrounds the core and includes an annular section in which concentration of F is set substantially constant both in the radial direction and fiber axis direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3A
