Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that, even when a cleaning member is separated from a toner image carrier, can effectively prevent, without time and effort, a cleaning failure, such as turn-up or partial loss of the cleaning member caused by an increase in coefficient of friction of a contact part of the cleaning member and toner image carrier.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a toner image carrier that carries a toner image; and a cleaning member that removes a residual toner on the toner image carrier while rotating the toner image carrier in contact with the toner image carrier. The image forming apparatus has a cleaning mode of forming, on the toner image carrier, a supply toner image for supplying a toner to a contact part of the cleaning member and toner image carrier, and removing the supply toner image with the cleaning member, and executes the cleaning mode at the start-up of the image forming apparatus.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
