Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical deflection device that reduces dependence on a wavelength or a refraction index of lateral direction angle distribution of a radiation light beam.SOLUTION: An optical deflection device 1 is constituted by a photonic crystal waveguide comprising a lattice array 3 in which low refraction index regions 11a, 11b are periodically arranged on a surface of a high refraction index member 10. In the lattice array, a part in which the low refraction index region is not arranged constitutes a waveguide core 12 that propagates incident light. The lattice array of the optical deflection device constitutes a duplexed periodic structure by means of two periodic arrays of a first periodic array in which the low refraction index region is evenly periodically arranged and a second periodic array. In the duplexed periodic structure, the first periodic array and the second periodic array are in a state having positional deviation to each other for a longitudinal direction of the waveguide core, and the low refraction index region of the lattice array is repeated in different lengths of lattice pitches P1, P2 for the longitudinal direction of the waveguide core.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
