Abstract:
An engine control device that controls electronic components of an engine, including an ignition device, by using a microcomputer that is operated by a power source voltage supplied from a control-use power source unit for which a generator driven by the engine is the power source. A step-down circuit, which uses a capacitor-discharge type device as the ignition device, steps down the voltage at both ends of the capacitor of this ignition device, and applies the resulting voltage to a power source line of the microcomputer, is provided, and in the process of stopping the engine the power source voltage from the step-down circuit is supplied to the microcomputer, thereby enabling the operational state of the microcomputer to be maintained even after the power source voltage supplied from the control-use power source unit to the microcomputer is depleted when the engine stops; thus, the microcomputer can be made to reliably carry out a process when the engine is stopped.
