Abstract:
A fire extinguisher according to the present invention includes: an agent vessel 21 filled with a fire extinguishing agent; pressure vessels 22 filled with a gas for pressurizing the inside of the agent vessel 21; an electrically actuated valve 21a for opening a discharge port of the agent vessel 21; initiators 22a for opening discharge ports of the pressure vessels 22; nozzles 24 installed in an engine compartment 13; piping 27 that allows the discharge port of the agent vessel 21 to communicate with the nozzles 24; temperature sensors 25 that detect temperatures in the engine compartment 13; and a control means 23 that is electrically connected to the temperature sensors 25 and that activates at least the initiators 22a on the basis of the detection results of the temperature sensors 25. After the initiators 22a are activated, the electrically actuated valve 21a operates with a time difference, and the pressure of the gas supplied from the pressure vessels 22 is accumulated in the agent vessel 21 until the discharge port of the agent vessel 21 is opened.
