Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS4916144
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1307129 Variable resistors ELECTRIC MIDLAND CORP 30 Sept 1970 [1 Oct 1969] 46582/70 Heading HIS A single turn miniaturized potentiometer comprises an arcuate resistance element, deposited on a substrate 40, which is engaged by a wiper arm that is integral with a leaf spring arranged to contact the end 23a of a lead 23. The wiper, leaf spring arrangement forms part of a spring contact which is held in a circular recess of a rotor 30 by means of sharp projections on the edges of the spring contact (Figs. 6 and 8, not shown). The rotor and substrate are held together by an outer housing 20 which has non-symmetrical tapes 71 that are bent into recesses under a base member 80 supporting the substrate. A resilient 0 ring 60 is held between a shoulder 33 on the rotor and the substrate so as to act as a hermetic seal.. Two projections on the bottom face of the substrate engage two corresponding indentations in the base member to prevent relative rotation of the members (Fig. 1b not shown). A stop 26 is provided to prevent rotation of the rotor beyond the ends of the resistance element, and the leads 21-23 are sealed in the arrangement using an epoxy resin (Fig. 10, not shown). A further embodiment is described in which the leads project horizontally from the potentiometer (Fig. 13, not shown).
