Abstract:
1289590 Fusible cut-outs KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO KK 10 April 1970 [16 April 1969] 17127/70 Heading H2G [Also in Division C7] An overload protection device for an electrolytic cell comprise a cup shaped member 3 connected to an electrode bar 1 by a threaded (5) rod 2, a flexible laminated copper strap 6 having one end secured in the socket by a metal 7 of low melting point and the other to a bus-bar 8, a separating mechanism (10) being secured by bolts 11, 12, to the bar 2 and the strap 6, such that the compressed spring 15 exerts a continuous separating force between the strap and cup. A guide rod 16 extends through an insulated bush 18 of polyvinyl chloride, the bush preventing current flow through the mechanism 10. Heat generated in the strap by an overload melts the metal 7 allowing the strap and cup to be separated.
