1388981 Audio-visual apparatus MINNESOTA-MINING & MFG CO 5 June 1973 [6 June 1972] 26773/73 Heading G5R A strip of magnetic record tape mounted, e.g. as described in Specification 1,388,982, on a photographic transparency slide 20 in position for projection is scanned from end to end at a uniform velocity less than 2 cm. per second by a magnetic transducer 47 pressed against it, e.g. by a spring 51. As shown, the head carriage 52 is driven by a capstan 63, which at the end of a run disengages itself by the action of a cam 105 on a carriage tab 107, Fig. 6, and is latched in the disengaged position by a pin 77, Fig. 2, which is released by a solenoid 75 at the beginning of a run. A spring 89 returns the carriage 52 to the start position. At the beginning and end of its run the transducer 47 is retracted from the magnetic tape strip by camming arrangements 90, 92 and 95, 100 respectively.
