Abstract:
The slide projector has a single lamp whose light output is split by a first mirror into two optic paths, each with a slide carrier. The light paths are combined by a second mirror before being focussed onto the screen using a condenser lens. The mirrors have identical patterns of reflecting and transmitting strips and coupled to a central control. They can be rotated about the optic axes so that the interaction of the two mirrors controls relative amounts of light passing down each optic path, from zero to full intensity. In this way successive slides can be faded into others using a single manual control.
