Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5018506
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1,258,223. Release coating. DOW CORNING CORP. 27 May, 1970 [27 June, 1969], No. 25368/70. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] A substrate is provided with a release coating by applying to it a composition comprising (1) a benzene-soluble hydroxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane of at least 350cs/25‹C, (2) based on the total weight of (1) and (2), either (i) 25-75% of a polysiloxane having triorganosiloxy groups at both ends or (ii) 10-75% of a polysiloxane having one triorganosiloxy and one hydroxy terminal group, the polysiloxane (2) being a benzene soluble polydimethylsiloxane of at least 4000cs/25‹C and the organo groups being C1-12 hydrocarbon or halohydrocarbon groups, and (3) a cross-linking agent for (1). (see Division C3). The composition may be applied in solution, and suitable substrates are metal, wood, leather, paper or glass cloth, polyester, polyacrylonitrile or polyamide fabrics. In Examples (1) is a liquid or gum, (2) is a dimethylvinylsiloxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane having incidental OH or vinyl groups or one of a range of trimethylsiloxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane liquids, and (3) is a trimethylsiloxy-terminated polymethylhydrogensiloxane or methoxyethyl orthosilicate or ethyl polysilicate; there is also present dibutyltin dilaurate or dioctoate and optionally a low molecular weight polydimethylsiloxane diol; the compositions are applied as 5% xylene solutions to paper. The terminal vinyl group in the gum (2) may be replaced by a phenyl, decyl, cyclohexyl, trifluoropropyl or phenylethyl group, or the end unit may be a triethylsiloxy unit.
