Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5023820
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1477342 Cine camera and cartridge P A CUSTER 2 July 1974 [2 July 1973] 29342/74 Heading G2E [Also in Division B8] In a motion picture camera and film cartridge combination, the camera comprises sound recording means and a probe projecting into the cartridge and having drive means for driving the film and having light-emitting means comprising a lightemitting diode for emitting a strip-like beam of light which intersects the film path. Sound is defined as including audio information and any other information other than the images provided by the camera lens. In the cartridge shown, Fig. 2, film 28 is drawn from a lower reel between inner and outer walls, along exposure controlling means 15, over projection 16, which may be hollow, around drive sprocket 17 and on to upper driven reel 18. A camera-mounted probe 20, Fig. 3, enters the inserted cartridge through a trap door in the cartridge so that coupling 24 on driven probe shaft 23 engages the sprocket to rotate it at constant speed. The shaft is driven by means that rotate reel 18. The coupling may be of pyramidal or tetrahedral shape, or may be formed by starshaped drive gear. The probe includes a galliumarsenide G2 diode emitting infrared light which passes through a probe slit to record sound data on film emulsion. The diode receives signals from a camera-mounted microphone via an amplifier. The diode may be placed adjacent the slit, or may have a synthetic resin structure, or fibre optic bundle, interposed to guide the light. The slit may be replaced by a transparent wall, and the sprocket by drive rolls. Projection 16 forms a film loop of variable size between the constant speed sprocket and the stop-start exposure motion.
