Japanese Patent JPS5038355
Kind Code:
U
Abstract:
1435240 Film transport mechanism BELL & HOWELL JAPAN Ltd 30 July 1974 [31 July 1973] 33541/74 Heading G2E A motion picture camera in which the film is transported intermittently through an exposure station 16 and continuously through a sound recording station 20 by separate motors, has means movable between a camera operative and camera inoperative position, which brings film transporting means at station 20 into or out of action, and energizes and de-energizes the motors. As shown, the operating means comprises a button 68 supported on a slide 60, which can be pushed in direction A to start the camera operating, and in direction B to stop it. Slide 60 is linked to an arm 48 by a spring 54, which has one end fixed to arm 48 and the other end engaged in a slot 56. On arm 48 is mounted a backing pad 46 and a pressure roller 42, which can hold the film against the magnetic recording head 32 and a drive capstan 30 respectively. Also mounted on arm 48 is a sensor 94 which is spring-urged into contact with the loop formed by the film 14 between the exposure and recording stations, and serves to maintain the size of this loop constant. Arm 48 also carries two trigger members 74, 76 which can engage and pivot a lever 80 into one of two positions. As slide 60 moves in direction B, arm 48 is pivoted anticlockwise, so that the film is brought into operative contact with the recording head and drive capstan. Shortly afterwards lever 80 is pivoted clockwise into the full line position seen in Fig. 2. This drives, through an over centre spring 86, a contact plate 88 into engagement with a fixed contact 92 which energizes the two drive motors. When slide 60 is moved in the reverse direction, spring 54 and hence arm 48 are pivoted clockwise, so that the film is released from engagement with head 32 and capstan 30. Shortly afterwards trigger 76 engages and pivots lever 80 clockwise into the broken line position of Fig. 2. Hence plate 88 is driven out of engagement with contact 92, and so the drive motors are stopped.
