1475092 Gasification of coal RHEINISCHE BRAUNKOHLENWERKE AG 22 Oct 1974 [23 Nov 1973] 45705/74 Heading C5E Coolant from a high temperature nuclear reactor is used in a process of indirect heat exchange in the gasification of solid carbonaceous materials with steam into gases comprising CO and H 2 , wherein the temperature of the coolant is reduced to about 700‹ C. or below. The gas stream is subsequently used in methane production, ore smelting, methanol synthesis, &c.
