1487461 Photographic colour diffusion transfer processing composition FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 26 June 1975 [26 June 1974] 27194/75 Heading G2C An aqueous processing composition capable of causing development of a diffusion transfer colour photographic silver halide material and of causing transfer therefrom of a dye image-providing material, contains an alkali in an amount to maintain the pH at a value higher than 10 during the development and includes at least one mercapto compound having a molecular weight of 230 or higher, and a hydrophilic polymer which imparts to the composition a viscosity, at room temperature, of not less than 1 poise. A photographic colour diffusion transfer film unit comprises (1) a support, (2) a light-sensitive element containing at least one silver halide emulsion layer having a dye image-providing material associated therewith, (3) an image-receiving element and (4) an aqueous processing composition as defined above, at least one of (2), (3) and (4) containing a silver halide developing agent. The dye image-providing material may be a dye developer as in the Examples. The mercapto compound may have one of the Formulae:- where R1 is 14-32C alkyl or 15-32C aralkyl, which group may be substituted with one or more halogen, NO 2 , carboxy, sulpho, CN, alkoxy, alkoxyalkyl, aryloxy or aroxyalkyl; R2 is a 3-to 6- membered carbocyclic ring, a 3-to 6-membered heterocyclic ring containing at least one C and 1-5 atoms other than C, or B-A-, and the carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring may form a part of a fused ring group and may be substituted with halogen, NO 2 , carboxy, a 1-32C aliphatic or cyclic aliphatic hydrocarbyl group, mono- or bi-cyclic 6-32C aryl, up to 32C amido, up to 32C carbamoyl, 1-32C alkoxy, or up to 32C aryloxy; B is alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic ring as defined for R2; and A is a divalent group. The film unit may contain a nucleophilic agent e.g. N-benzyl-α- picolinium bromide.
