Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5339139
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
1454450 Film processing AMERICAN VIDEONETICS CORP 18 June 1974 [27 June 1973] 26981/74 Heading G2X In a method of applying activator fluid to the surface of an image receiving film 27 for use in a transfer process an absorbent resilient pad 91 is compressed against the film, the pad is filled with activator fluid, the fluid is then drawn out of the pad and the pad is dried out by applying a vacuum to the pad; finally the pad is retracted from the film to sponge off any excess activator. The device for carrying out such method is used in an apparatus for transferring images recorded sequentially on microfilm to selected positions on a receiving film. The microfilm 22 is imaged by lens 19 and then transported to transfer station 71. The area of the receiving film on to which the microfilm image is to be transferred is positioned at an activator station 28. A solenoid 96 is energized to raise a shaft 86 and press a cup 88 containing a compressible pad 91 into engagement with the surface of film 27. The edges of the cup 88 form a seal with the film so that when a vacuum is applied to conduit 92 and valve 101 is opened activator fluid is drawn into the pad and applied to the film. Subsequently valve 101 is closed and valve 103 opened to an air supply so that the pad is dried. Finally shaft 86 is lowered to move the pad out of engagement with the film and sponge off any remaining fluid. The surface of the film which now carries activator is now moved to the transfer station and pressed into engagement with the latent image area of the microfilm. Developer in the latter is activated, a negative image is developed and a positive image is transferred to and developed in the receiving film. This is now moved back to the processing station where in a sequence similar to that for applying activator the film is washed (valve 102) and dried. Other details are similar to those described in Specification.
