PURPOSE: To provide paint which has excellent heat insulating properties and durability, does not contain asbestos fiber and is suitable for use in coating part icularly roofs, containing a film-forming material component consisting of asphalt, aluminum flake, a hollow filler and a non-asbestos fiber.

CONSTITUTION: A paint compsn. is provided wherein a main film-forming material component consists of 100pts.wt. (on a solid basis) asphalt, 30W60pts.wt. aluminum flake, 10W100pts.wt. hollow fiber and 1W60pts.wt. non-asbestos fiber. Examples of the asphalts are native and petroleum asphalts such as straight asphalt, blown asphalt, etc. and pref. those having a penetration of 10W60. Hollow fillers having a particle size of 1W200μ and a bulk specific gravity of 0.8 or below are preferred. Non-asphalt fibers having a fiber length of 0.1W10mm are preferred.
