Abstract:
PURPOSE:To efficiently remove tetravalent Ce contained in an aq. soln. by holding the soln. in a specified pH range; adding polyacrylamide to the soln.; and separating solid matter formed. CONSTITUTION:Hydrochloric acid or the like is added to an aq. soln. contg. tetravalent Ce and cpds. of Y, etc. to hold the soln. at pH 2-6. About 0.1-5ppm polyacrylamide is added to the soln. of pH 2-6 and stirred to prcipitate tetravalent Ce-contg. solid matter, which is then separated by filtration or other operation. This treatment is carried out at about ordinary temp. for 1min or more, pref. 5- 30min. By this method tetravalent Ce can be removed simply and efficiently without losing metals other than Ce.
