Abstract:
PURPOSE:To disperse finely divided metallic oxide etc. into an org. solvent constantly in high concn., by reacting inorg. acid salt of divalent metal with alkali hydroxide in an org. solvent using neutral metallic salt of a specific org. acid as a dispersant, and by reacting O2 and/or H2O2 with the product of the above reaction. CONSTITUTION:An inorg. acid salt of a divalent metal, e.g., Fe, Mn, Ni, is reacted with alkali hydroxide in an org. solvent (e.g., toluene) using as a dispersant neutral Na-, Ba-, Mg- salt etc. of naphthenic acid and/or org. sulfonic acid (e.g., petroleum sulfonic acid) and an alkenyl carboxylic acid (e.g., oleic acid). The resultant metallic hydroxide and/or oxide of a divalent metal, e.g., Fe, Mn, or Ni is reacted with O2 and/or H2O2 to convert the metal to a highly valency level and to form a finely divided metallic oxide or hydroxide which is dispersed into the org. solvent in high concn. Ferrous chloride, manganous chloride, and nickelous chloride etc. are examples of the inorg. salt of the divalent metal.
