Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R1 is H or methyl; R2 is ethyl or propyl present in the 2- or 3-position of the benzene ring when R1 is H, and ethyl or propyl present in the 2-, 3- or 4-position of the benzene ring when R1 is methyl) and an acid addition salt thereof. EXAMPLE:4'-Ethyl-2-methyl-3-pyrrolidinopropiophenone hydrochloride. USE:Useful as a remedy for algogenic myospasm caused by diseases in locomotorium, e.g. lumbago, backache or herniated disk, etc., and having improved muscular relaxing and anticonvulsant action, etc. PROCESS:A keto compound of formula II is subjected to the Mannich reaction with formaldehyde and pyrrolidine of formula III or a salt thereof in a solvent, e.g. methanol, to give the aimed compound of formula I .
