Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the magnet material suitable for a highly efficient sintered magnet by a method wherein the composition of 1-5 rare earth-Co magnet material powder to be used for the sintered magnet is set as Sm1-xPrxCoz, and values x and z are selected with in prescribed range.

CONSTITUTION: The prescribed quantity of high purity Sm2O3, Pr6O11, Co and metal Ca powder are mixed, they are processed in Ar at 1,100°C for 3hr and then cooled quickly. A reaction product is put into water, and CaO and unreacted Ca are removed using water and dilute acid. The moisture adhered to the powder is substituted with C2H5OH, the powder is wet-pulverized, dried up by deaeration, and the alloy powder of Sm1-xPrxCoz of 0.05≤x≤0.39 and 4.2≤z≤4.7 is obtained. When a sintered magnet is formed using said powder, its residual magnetic flux density Br and magnetic coersive force HC become high, and its maximum energy product BHmax is increased too.
