PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound useful for perfume, etc., having sweet musk-like and keen amber-like fragrance, having excellent stability, safety, aroma retention, diffusion and palatability.
CONSTITUTION: 1-(2,2,6-Trimethylcyclohexyl)-5-hexen-3-ol of formula I. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting 3-(2,2,6-trimethylcyclohexyl) propanal of formula II with an allyl magnesium halide of formula III.
