NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I [R is lower alkyl, (substituted)phenyl, or (substituted)benzyl; Ar is (substituted)phenyl] and its salt.
EXAMPLE: 10,11-Dihydro-23-demycinosyl-11-phenylthio-23-O-phenyl-desmycosin.
USE: An antibacterial agent. Having higher activity against Gram-positive bacteria than well-known tylosin, effective against resistant bacteria, and stable in organisms.
PREPARATION: A compound shown by the formula II[R1 is -CHO-, or -CH(OR11) OR12(R11 and R12 are lower alkyl); R2 is OH-protecting group] is reacted with a thiol shown by the formula R-SH in a hydrous organic solvent, to give a compound shown by the formula III. The OH-protecting group of the compound is eliminated, and the resultant compound is deacetalized when R1 is -CH(OR11) OR12, to give a compound shown by the formula I .
