To produce 2-carbamoyl-3,4,5,6-tetrafluorobenzoic acid which is a compound useful as an intermediate raw material for medicines, agrochemicals, photosensitive materials and liquid crystal materials, etc., provide a method for producing the compound and obtain tetrafluoroanthranilic acid and 2,3,4,5- tetrafluoroaniline.
This 2-carbamoyl-3,4,5,6-tetrafluorobenzoic acid is produced by reacting tetrafluorophthalic anhydride with ammonia and an alkaline substance. Furthermore, the tetrafluorophthalic anhydride is reacted with the ammonia and the alkaline substance and the resultant compound is then reacted with a hypohalite and the alkaline substance to provide tetrafluoroanthranilic acid, which is subsequently heated to afford 2,3,4,5-tetrafluoroaniline.
