To provide a technology which estimates a three-dimensional shape of an object from a single two-dimensional image in which the object appears.
Illumination base data, which are common to a plurality of objects, and three-dimensional shape information corresponding to the Illumination base data are preliminarily prepared. A combination of illumination base data, which represent an image which is most similar to a two-dimensional image of a certain object, the weight of the Illumination base data and an illumination vector is found. The illumination base of the certain object, which is determined from the Illumination base data and the weight of the Illumination base data, is partially differentiated to find relative shape information. A positional relation of a characteristic point between the two-dimensional image and the relative shape information is found. Three-dimensional shape information is corrected by using the positional relation to make it the three-dimensional shape information on the certain object.
