Abstract:

PURPOSE: To properly absorb irradiation growth in response to the dispersion of the irradiation growth caused by the high burnup in a fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor.

CONSTITUTION: The upper end plug 2 of another fuel rod 1 is slidably inserted into the boss 4a of an upper tie plate 4 fixed to a tie rod 1a to form an absorption margin S for the irradiation growth in a fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor, and the absorption margin S for the inner fuel rod 1c is made larger as required than that of the outer fuel rod 1b within the fuel rods arranged into a square matrix, or/and the drop clearance from the upper tie plate of the upper end plug 2 of the outer fuel rod 1b is made larger than that of the inner fuel rod 1c.
