PURPOSE: The titled additive promoting emulsification in the preparation of an emulsion fiel, accelerating combustion and preventing evolution of a toxic matierial in the exhaust gas, which is obtd. by mixing Na2CO3, MnO2, an alcohol, a char soln. and water in a specified proportion.

CONSTITUTION: 5W10g of Na2CO3, 10W15g of MnO2, 50W200cc of raw ethanol or methanol, 5W10cc of a char soln. and the balance of water are mixed, to make up 1l of the titled additive. The sodium carbonate serves to neutralize SO2 and SO3 which corrode a furnace material and to accelerate emulsification of the oil and water. The manganese dioxide decomposes in the furnace and serves to accelerate combustion by evolution of oxggen and to neutralize SO2 and SO3 into a Mn(II) cpd. The alcohol also accelerates combustion and the char soln. promotes increase in calorific value.
