To provide an additive capable of effectively modifying a composition when the composition is obtained by adding the additive to a base material, and to provide a method for producing the additive and a composition containing the additive.
The additive is obtained by carrying out pressure reduction after pressurization treatment using carbon dioxide is carried out on a material consisting of a single component or a plurality of components constituting the additive. Preferable materials for the additive are: (A) particles or powder consisting of a single component or a plurality of components; (B) particles or powder consisting of a single component or a plurality of components and having the surfaces to which emulsion, microemulsion, or incompatible mixture liquid, wherein a component serving as a dispersed phase is dispersed in a component serving as a continuous phase, adheres; and (C) a liquid consisting of a single component, a homogeneous mixture liquid consisting of a plurality of components, a heterogeneous mixture liquid consisting of a plurality of components, or a mixture of a liquid and a solid.
