Abstract:
To provide a technology for producing a low carbon (warm) mix asphalt which reduces a load to the environment; and to provide a technology for making effective use of (recycling) paper sludge.
A method for producing low carbon (warm) mix asphalt made by lowering mixing temperature includes adding to starting materials an additive for warm mix asphalt containing as a main component a layered double hydroxide produced from paper sludge during mixing production. By this method, the mixing temperature (160-180°C), when the mix asphalt is produced, is lowered by 30-50°C, and the mix asphalt is produced even at 130-110°C, and consequently the amount of carbon dioxide discharged by heating is reduced by about 14-25%.
