Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perfectly adhere the cover and the inner end papers of a book effectively and with good quality, by providing a hot-melt coating layer all over the surface of said cover or said inner end papers of the cover, overlapping the both, and heating the same with pressure.

CONSTITUTION: A hot-melt coating layer 5 is provided all over the surface of a cover 2. On the other hand, a hot-melt is immersed into a back 3' of a content 3 after the gathering process. Then, the cover 2 and the content 3 are sent to a three-way press 7. In the three-way press 7, the back 3' of the content 3 and a small part of the back 3' of an inner end paper 4 are adhered to each other to obtain an unfinished pocketbook 1'. Then, the unfinished pocketbook 1' is sent to a pair of heat plates and heated under pressure, whereby the cover 2 and the inner end papers 4 are perfectly adhered to each other all over the surfaces thereof, thereby obtaining a desired pocketbook.
