Abstract:
PURPOSE: To easily clamp and fix an air bag unit necessitating no flange by providing a specific housing and a retaining bracket to be mounted in the air bag unit.
CONSTITUTION: This air bag unit having an annular hybrid inflator assembly having no flange is provided with a unit housing 14, a cushion retaining ring 16, an inflatable cushion in a folded-down condition, a unit cover, and a retaining bracket 22. The unit housing 14 is formed so as to store the inflator assembly at the center thereof and has holes 36, 38, 40, 44 providing a four point mounting structure to be mounted on a steering wheel of an automobile. The retaining bracket 22 is put in the cooperation relation with the unit housing 14 and is fixed by screw-fitting a nut 130 in a locking fitting 112 protruding from four holes of the retaining bracket 22.
