To provide an air conditioner capable of automatically cleaning an air filter.
The air conditioner installed in the ceiling is provided with a suction port 5 sucking outside air; an air filter 6 installed windward of the suction port 5; a slidable suction nozzle 9 having a suction port 9b facing the air filter 6, to suck dust sticking to the air filter 6; a drive motor 16 for driving the suction nozzle 9; a suction exhaust device 11 communicating with the suction nozzle 9 and sucking and exhausting dust together with air; and a communicating means 10 allowing the suction exhaust device 11 and the suction nozzle 9 to communicate with each other. Automatic cleaning of dust sticking to the air filter 6 can be constituted with simple structure, and arrangement is made so that the suction nozzle 9 does not become suction resistance without scattering dust collected during cleaning of the air filter 6, into a room. Automatic cleaning of the air filter 6 can thereby be achieved without impairing the basic performance of the air conditioner 1.
