PURPOSE: To enhance cooling efficiency, to reduce the quantity of cooling water to be used and to improve the feasibility for maintenance, by spraying the water in the reservoir under the air cooling part into the air stream to be cooled from the upper part of the air cooling section through the cooling tower.
CONSTITUTION: The water in the reservoir 15 of the cooling tower 11 is pumped up by a pump 19 and sprayed on the packing material 2 from the sprayer 3. On the other hand, the air to be cooled taken into the air cooler 1 by the fan 7 from the intake 5 in the direction of A is cooled by directly contacting with the cooling water while passing through the packing material 2, and is taken out from the outlet 6. The cooling water is collected in the reservoir 4 at the lower part of the cooler 1, returned to the cooling tower 11 by the pump 10, cooled again and used circulated. Thus, an air cooler for hot and dry air with high heat exchanging efficiency, and favorable feasibility for maintenance requiring small quantity of cooling water can be obtained.
