Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve liquid leakage resistance properties of an alkaline battery in which an inner face of a battery case is plated with nickel cobalt.SOLUTION: An alkaline battery comprises: a battery case made of a nickel plated steel plate; a hollow cylindrical positive electrode, containing manganese dioxide and graphite, which is arranged inside the battery case; and a negative electrode, containing zinc, which is arranged in the hollow part via a separator. The alkaline battery has a nickel cobalt plated layer over a nickel plated layer inside the battery case. The total mass of the manganese dioxide and the graphite contained in 1 cmof the positive electrode ranges from 2.80 to 3.10 g. The mass ratio of the graphite to the manganese dioxide ranges from 7.1 to 9.3%. The peak half-value width of the 110 plane measured by powder X-ray diffraction measurement of the manganese dioxide ranges from 2.3 to 2.8°.
