Title:
ALLOY FOR RARE EARTH MAGNET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04371539
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an alloy for rare earth magnet having high efficiency and high reliability by specifying a composition consisting of rare earth elements, Fe, Cu, M (one or more elements among Zr, Hf, Ti, Nb, Ta, V, and Ni), N, and Co.

CONSTITUTION: The alloy is an alloy for rare earth magnet having a basic composition consisting of, by weight, 20-30% R (R means one or more kinds among rare earth elements including Y), 5-45% Fe, 2-10% Cu, 0.1-10% M, 0.1-8% N, and the balance Co. In this alloy, magnetic properties are improved and the Curie temp. is increased by extending the intertransition-metal spacing by the infiltration of N among lattices. The above alloy can be obtained by subjecting an alloy having prescribed composition to solution treatment, to ageing treatment, and then to heat treatment in nitrogen gas. By using this alloy, a rare earth magnet having high magnetic properties, excellent in thermal stability, and free from problems of corrosion resistance can be obtained.
